OLT Flights

OLT expands routes and agrees codesharing with Swiss and Continental.

OLT is a German carrier, based in Emden, which is known for its cooperation in setting up codeshares with other airlines. This small airline also has expansive plans for linking northern Germany to other regions of the country and flying routes from its main base in Bremen to destinations within Europe.

The company was originally formed as an air taxi operation, specialising in flights to North Sea Islands. However, it quickly grew into a charter airline operating within Europe and became a full-fledged scheduled services airline in 1991. OLT or Ostfriesische Lufttransport, to give it its full title, has continued to grow in recent years, both in terms of routes flown and codeshares.

Latest route expansion includes three flights weekly from Hamburg Fuhlsbüttel to Toulouse and Leipzig/Halle to Brussels. Between August and October the airline also operates a weekly route from Dusseldorf International to Heringsdorf.

OLT has made codeshare agreements with Continental Airlines, a Star Alliance partner, which means that Continental passengers can use OLT aircraft for flights from Copenhagen Kastrup to Bremen, a service that operates twice daily. Swiss International Airlines have also entered into a codeshare agreement with OLT, which brings with it a doubling of route frequency to twice daily instead of once a day on the Zurich-Bremen route.

Domestically, the airline flies to Borkum, Bremen, Bremerhaven, Cologne, Bonn, Emden, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Heide-Büsum, Helgoland, Heringsdorf and Munich. International destinations include Bristol, Copenhagen, Toulouse and Zurich.

OLT operates a mixed fleet of aircraft; three Saab 2000s, three Britten-Norman Islanders, two Fokker 100s, one Cessna 208, one Cessna 172 and one Gippsland GA8.
