Tips for Single Travellers
With flights to different locations all around the world, single travellers do not necessarily have to choose a specific package deal for their break, although there are many companies that specialise in this type of holiday. It may sound strange but travelling alone is one of the best times to make friends while on holiday, as those who travel with people they know are less likely to make the effort with those that they don't, but it does mean striking up conversations with strangers - as they are at first. Making friends with others means that those travelling alone do not have to dine alone or go on excursions by themselves.
It is a good idea to research the destination thoroughly in advance. Find out about the areas where it is safe to be alone and those areas that should be avoided if not with others. This can help to make the single traveller feel more secure and more confident about being on his or her own.
Destinations are not limited to those close to home either. There are many opportunities for singles to take holidays further afield. Cities such as Bangkok or Tokyo in the Far East, or Buenos Aires in South America, offer plenty of options for the single traveller.
