Shop Till You Drop in Dubai
Dubai's Shopping Festival offers visitors 'the world's best brands at the world's lowest prices'. What are you waiting for? A number of airlines offer direct and indirect flights to Dubai from Birmingham Airport, so getting to this millionaire’s playground couldn’t be easier.
Shopping is still the main reason for many visitors to explore the city, who enjoy browsing in the calm ambience of the malls, with their vast range of designer shopping outlets. The city’s traditional souks provide an exciting contrast to the more Western malls and a taste of the more traditional way of life that underpins this sophisticated city.
The annual Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF) takes place during the month of February and draws visitors from around the world. During the DSF, the shops and boutiques in the city's numerous malls offer heavy discounts on their wares (in addition to their usual tax free status); there are daily firework displays and free raffles with a top of the range car to be won.
The festival is not all about shopping however. There are numerous events that run alongside the festival such as art exhibitions, children's activities, fashion shows, musical and dance performances, and film shows.
The city's beautiful streets throng with street entertainers, magicians and clowns while the parks are not just a welcome oasis of green in this desert playground but, during the Dubai Shopping Festival, also play host to a whole host of rides, shows and amusements to keep the children entertained for hours.
