Hanover hosts the International Fireworks Competition in a day-long festival of music and celebration.In the middle of May, the skies over Hanover, Germany light up with an incredible display of light, colour and sound. In May every year, the best pyro-technicians in the world are invited to the Internationaler Feuerwerkswettbewerb (The International Fireworks Competition), to put their craft on display for the audience of thousands who flock to see the display. In addition to the most spectacular pyrotechnic shows in the world, classical, pop and other types of music play in time to the displays, building to a crescendo when the final rocket explodes. Judging takes place at the end of the competition when the finest pyro-technicians in the world are announced.
