The perfect place to party and let your hair down.
Sample some of Birmingham's best party spots.Birmingham is sometimes described as being the party capital of the UK. It has a young thriving population, thanks in part to its universities and a variety of bars, restaurants and clubs and activities to choose from. For anyone travelling from Scotland there is easy access to Birmingham from Edinburgh airport, in fact the flight time is slightly less than an hour.
England’s second city has a thriving gay and lesbian culture and hosts the annual Birmingham Pride festival every May. This two-day event is free to all and claims to be the largest gay and lesbian festival in the UK. Each year there is a different theme and the participants put a great deal of effort into decorating large floats in an array of colours. There is also the Community Village Green, which encourages visitors to become directly involved in the carnival. There are activities for all the family and it is the perfect place to come and relax from the party atmosphere of the parade.
During the carnival there is also the Village Cabaret Stage, which showcases a huge line-up of cabaret, comedy and other forms of entertainment. Anyone interested in seeing popular singers and artists should head to the Nightingale Main stage, where a variety of acts can be enjoyed. Taking it up a notch is the Chic Dance area where, as the name suggests, carnival goers can dance to their heart's content, with many different DJs performing sets.
