One of the biggest open air live music festivals in all of Europe, and the biggest outdoor party in Switzerland, takes place in this destination, at the Paleo Festival Nyon in late July. During Paleo, performers from all over pack stalls and stages set up throughout town, set to entertain crowds of over 200,000. To date, over 3.5 million spectators and over 2,500 artists have attended since the show’s inception in the 1970‘s. During the July Paleo week, more than 120 musicians are on hand to perform anything from pop and rock, to classical music and electronica. Many well-known international stars are around during the event. The small city of Nyon, situated on Lake Geneva and internationally known as the UEFA headquarters, comes to life during the summer and plays host to the event. Nyon is conveniently located just a short drive away from the airport.
Having been around more than 20 years, the yearly Paleo is practically an institution in Switzerland and the main attraction of summer travellers there. Plenty of inexpensive charters available year round from all departure points in the UK make arriving in Geneva easy, especially from convenient airports like London City.
