The Most Exciting Racing Night in the World?
Dubai's World Cup Night has glamour and excitement by the champagne bucket-loadAs one of the highlights of Dubai's social calendar, the Dubai World Cup is not to be missed and can be easily reached via daily flights from Gatwick. Dubai World Cup Night is a series of thoroughbred horse races held annually in March at Meydan Racecourse in Dubai. It is the world's richest thoroughbred racing event with a purse of over USD$25 Million on offer and attracts some of the biggest names in flat racing in the world as well as the cream of Dubai society. Meydan Racecourse is the home of the Dubai Racing Club and is one of the world's most glamorous race tracks. The track's most outstanding feature is the brand new grandstand, an architecturally stunning building with a crescent-shaped roof covered in solar panels to provide electricity to the complex. The building is a whopping 1.5 km long and can accommodate sixty thousand guests in its stands, hospitality suites and restaurants.
To celebrate the opening of the new facility, the number of races involved in the World Cup was extended to eight including: the Dubai Kahayla Classic (for purebred Arabians), the Al Quoz Sprint, the Godolphin Mile, the UAE Derby, the Dubai Golden Shaheen, the Dubai Duty Free Stakes (part of the Asian Mile Challenge), the Dubai Sheema Classic and the Dubai World Cup itself.
Visitors to the Dubai World Cup can watch from the stands where all seats have an excellent view of the track, enjoy a fabulous meal in one of the Grandstand's two outstanding restaurants and possibly rub shoulders with a celebrity or two.
