Take the plunge and visit Nice
Hot or cold, adult or child, all year round, Nice is for youThroughout the year EasyJet flies from London Gatwick to Nice, a city providing all-year round activities. For Christmas with a difference, try the city's annual Christmas Swim (Bain de Noel). The water temperature averages 15C so those lacking the courage to wear just a summer swimsuit may prefer to wear a wetsuit. Either way, feel free to join the group of iron-willed swimmers who annually take this Christmas dip.
For the more sedate traveller, Nice hosts an annual book fair. Attracting international authors, the fair features talks and debates, book signings and workshops. Children are catered for at children's bookstands, and visitors can relax while listening to live music in the Albert I gardens.
For several months each year Nice is a haven for poetry lovers with events taking place in the streets, cafes, schools and theatres. Music lovers are also well provided for, with the prestigious Musiques au Couer, a classical music festival given by international artists where audiences can enjoy everything from opera to Bel Canto.
The Crazy Week in July caters for lovers of popular music from rock and rap to reggae, folk and pop. The annual Cote d'Azure Tango Festival is also popular. Dancehalls and theatres throughout Nice showcase international stars and amateurs in eight days of shows and seminars on the tango.
Vintage car lovers will be in heaven if they follow the annual Route d'Or (Golden Route). If you own France's most-coveted vintage car, the 2CV, join others and follow them around the mimosa-clad mountain roads around Grasse.
Whatever your tastes, Nice will match them all year round.
