Perth - Blue Skies and Golden Beaches
Perth is a city of exciting adventure and outdoor life - or relaxed pampering. Perth is situated on the west coast among some of the most beautiful scenery on the planet. Shimmering turquoise water and cornflower blue skies bracket golden beaches that stretch out along the ‘Sunset Coast’. Perth’s beaches can be a romantic get-away for couples, with fantastically coloured sunsets painting the scene vivid colours of red and orange, or the perfect family holiday, filled with splashing water and fun.
The water just off the coast, where schools of brightly coloured fish frolic in the rich waters, is perfect for swimmers and snorkelers, while the beaches give the perfect opportunity to work on that longed-for tan. Other beaches roll and turn with surf – ideal for surfers. A wreck 40 minutes from Perth provides a wonderful scuba diving trail, while Kite surfing and sunset fishing off Safety Bay beach are popular pastimes.
The nightlife in Perth varies from concerts and gigs with local bands to club life, while the famous ‘50’s hangout, the Scarborough Snake Pit, is only a 15 minute drive from the city.
The annual ‘Good Food and Wine’ show finds its way to Perth in July. This celebration of all things tasty boasts a celebrity line up of chefs, including the likes of Jamie Oliver and Gordon Ramsey. Other events taking place in Perth during the year include the annual dance music festival ‘Park life’ in September and gardening show and workshop event ‘King’s Park Festival’, also in September.
