Another top attraction for visitors to Auckland is the Hauraki Gulf, where you can watch the dolphins, whales and birds, and learn about their behaviour, biology and myths. Waiheke island in the Hauraki Gulf is a 40-minute ferry ride from downtown Auckland, where you can visit fabulous vineyards and become a wine buff while enjoying some of New Zealand's most beautiful vistas.
