Geneva is a cosmopolitan city playing host to various events and is a popular destination.Geneva is a cosmopolitan Swedish city and is situated near Lake Geneva. There are many connecting flights to Geneva from London Heathrow. Several airlines have daily flights to the city and one of them is British Airways, which has up to eight flights daily. Travellers have a number of morning flights they can chose from, the earliest one is 6.45 am and there are many more in the afternoon. The Swiss airline also has several daily flights to this popular destination.
The locals host the Geneva Grape Jamboree by celebrating the harvesting of grapes. During this event visitors are welcome to sample a wide variety of grape products in addition to juice and wine. This event takes place yearly in September.
The Fetes De Geneve is a popular festival held each August and usually lasts for ten days. Some of the activities that take place include carnival rides, parades, food competitions, variety shows and concerts. It is estimated that more than two million visitors arrive in the city to attend this event every year.
The city hosts the largest motor show in Europe; the International Motor Show. The event features latest innovations and prototypes that are unveiled during the week-long event. There are plenty of free gifts and a variety of classics that are displayed in large showrooms.
Christmas is a wonderful season and that is when the city’s Christmas Festival that runs from November to January takes place. Join locals as they sample goodies from the International Christmas market or skate at the Free Open Air Skating square at the Place du Rhone.
