Christmas in Prague
Prague is gearing up for its annual Christmas Markets and celebration.The annual Christmas celebrations at the Old Town Square in Prague make the city come to life in the most magical ways. The Square is always a lively place, a gathering place for Czechs and holidaymakers from all over the world, but at Christmas, a special kind of atmosphere descends upon Prague that is unrivalled anywhere in the world. Together with Wenceslas Square, the Old Town Square transforms into a place of revelry and camaraderie during the season.
This year’s Christmas Market is scheduled to include the popular marketplace, spread throughout both squares and into the streets of the City beyond. The booths are decorated in the spirit of the Holiday. The Old Town Square is scheduled to be lit up with the giant Christmas tree that marks Prague as one of the most beautiful Christmas celebrations in the world.
The stalls are anticipated to be selling all sorts of small crafts and Czech treats, including hand-made lace, carved wooden toys and figures, glass and ceramic figurines and, of course, Christmas ornaments. A variety of traditional and contemporary foods are listed for sale as well, including sausages, hot punch and mulled wine, as well as gingerbread cakes.
The popular entertainments will be back this year as well. Street performers will be joined by international and local choirs and bands playing throughout the Christmas season. A variety of entertainments are scheduled for this holiday event. Visitors to Prague from London Heathrow will be lining the streets at this year’s Prague Christmas Market.
