Sao Paul is increasingly making a name for itself as a design centre for not only Brazil, but also the whole of Latin America. This vibrant city is host to a huge variety of attractions to suit all tastes at all times. The pre-Lenten Carnival is one of the city's biggest attractions, but really every month of year is celebrated in Sao Paulo with a whole host of different festivities.
January sees the geek's extravaganza, a global exhibition celebrating technology and electronics. February or March is the time to kick off with 'Carnaval,' the big splash before Ash Wednesday, complete with samba schools, processions and lots of noise. March is the time for 'Mercado Mundo Mix' a dynamic celebration of creative design. April sees the 'Day of the Indian,' when many of the city's inhabitants pay a visit to the 'Museu do Indio.' May is launched with a cultural bonanza, known locally as 'The Virada Culturel,' where film, art, theatre and dance are all celebrated. Sao Paulo Fashion week is South America's largest fashion show and well worth a visit.
The second half of the year is also packed with an exciting array of exhibitions and festivities. These delights range from classical concerts to 'Restaurant Week' to 'Black Consciousness Day' on 20th November. This event commemorates the leader Zumbi, who set up a place of refuge for escaped slaves. Sao Paulo is an ideal destination for everyone, thanks to its wide array of entertainment and cultural delights.
