Atlanta is a vibrant and entertaining city that provides wonderful vacations spots for tourists.Atlanta is always referred to as the capital of the south and is home to more than five million residents. The city is home to the renowned civil rights leader and Nobel Laureate, Martin Luther King, Jr. and it pays tribute to him during the King Week that takes place in January. For over 100 years, the city has celebrated St Patrick’s Day. The Annual Parade that takes place each March includes a huge street parade, which is followed by a series of street marches, concerts, exhibits and celebrations.
The ING Georgia marathon takes place in march and features world class runners who pass through historic and interesting areas such as the Inman Park, King Historic Site among others.
Atlanta Film festival opens in April where participants and visitors are treated to nine days of intense film viewing from various parts of the world. In May, the Memorial Day Weekend Celebrations takes place as locals engage in fun filled individual and family events.
Regarded as one of the greatest musical celebrations in the world, the Atlanta Jazz Festival that takes place in May attracts more than 100,000 people annually. The event takes place in various centres across the city such as the Centennial Olympic park, Churchill grounds and Underground Atlanta.
