The new Bond film set in Cape Town will reveal the city in all its magical splendourThe location of the latest James Bond film is Cape Town. 'Carte Blanche,' which was written by Jeffrey Deaver, successor to the famous Ian Fleming, mentions Cape Town and the Bond protagonist, Severan Hydt, is South African. Much of the local scenery features in the movie and is sure to provide some great points of recognition for visitors.
Traveller wishing to get to Cape Town from Manchester Airport will find that there are many flights available. Once you arrive in the city, one the first ports of call should be the infamous Robben Island, where Nobel Peace prizewinner, Nelson Mandela, was incarcerated for many long years. After that, take advantage of the coast and possibly, if you are feeling particularly daring, take a dive into the shark infested waters surrounding the island, with one of the many companies that offer shark cage diving.
Of course, it is not all about the past in this magnificent city, so hit one of the many bars in Long Street where you might be tempted to sample one or two South African cocktails; 'Julep' is well recommended. Alternatively, you could always be adventurous and sample some of Cape Town's wonderful restaurants or cafes; many of them provide a whole range of culinary delights from across the African continent. If you still hanker for outdoor sports activities you could always hire a jet ski or perhaps just chill out on one of the many secluded beaches along the Cape.
