Prague's fantastic city streets draw thousands of visitors every year; try not to get lost among them!Prague is one of Europe’s top holiday destinations, featuring fantastic architecture and an exciting history.
Examples of Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque architecture can be found within the winding medieval streets, while neoclassical, art nouveau and cubist influenced buildings can be discovered throughout the city centre.
However, outside of these ancient streets is a bustling, modern city waiting to be explored. Riverside bars and cafes, art galleries and museums and beer gardens selling the city’s famous beer await. However, as popular as Prague is, it is important to try to look past the thousands of tourists to see the city’s true heart.
Prague is rife with hip little bistros and enticing clubs; try a visit to the Cross Club, an industrial club like no other set with gadgetry, shafts, cranks and other industrial decorative. Too much? Take a trip to Riegrovy Sady, a beer garden found on the river.
The fantastic Charles Bridge is a must see in Prague. To see its true beauty and the bridge at its atmospheric best, try to see it at dawn. Otherwise, pushing through crowds of tourists just as eager to view the wonderfully designed crossing can be overwhelming, not to mind avoiding a gamut of hawkers and buskers. Better still, take a boat ride underneath and view the remaining arch of the original Judith Bridge.
A phenomenal astronomical clock built in 1490 by a man called Master Hanuš awaits in Old Town Square. Master Hanuš was supposedly blinded after completing the work, so he could not duplicate its like elsewhere; a myth, or truth?
