From the UK, BA flies daily to Sydney from Manchester, the flight taking around 25 hours, depending on which airline you choose and where you stop-over; some flights can take up to 37 hours. Sydney is situated on the west coast of Australia and takes advantage of its fantastic position. Lighting installations showing off the city's superb landmarks are a constant night time feature and one such installation decorated the Sydney Opera House
There is also plenty to do for anyone who does not wish to be exposed to 'the great outdoors.' There are many flea markets in Darlinghurst, fashionable clothes shops in Verona Street in Paddington and should you feel the need for a coffee and a read, why not try Mag Nation, based on King Street in Newtown, which boasts a collection of 4,000 magazines and excellent freshly brewed coffee.
The arts have always been strongly represented in Sydney and the city makes good use of its wide open spaces to host a whole multi-media experience. The city promotes what it calls its 'Urban Art Galleries,' where visitors can see a whole range of different works in all types of urban settings. Many of these galleries are run by the artists themselves.
