Copenhagen, the city that has everything, any time and any day of the yearThe Copenhagen Carnival is in its second decade and now attracts 100,000 spectators. Held annually at Whitsun, the parade involves Latin sounds and colourful costumes, African dance theatre and bands play music as varied as Brazilian, salsa, blues, and reggae, with many tribute bands and guest DJs. There are activities and competitions for children, and, for those with no interest in world music, a ballroom tent is provided.
Fly from Aberdeen to Copenhagen any time of the year and you will find entertainment of all kinds. It is a vibrant city, proud of its Tivoli Gardens and Little Mermaid, its scenic canals and historic castles. With new museums, it offers travellers a thriving cultural scene.
During the summer, the Copenhagen Summer Festival is held, offering a popular programme of chamber music, with 12 concerts playing over 12 days, both free and for ticket holders. Also during the summer is the Cultural Harbour Event at the harbour front. This popular event features a variety of sports and entertainments, and tourists and locals can join in games of beach volleyball, diving and trampolining.
For the less sporty, try the Nordic Art Fair which shows artwork by contemporary Scandinavian and international artists in more than 70 galleries.
For youngsters, the Buster Film Festival is an annual event. It shows new and innovative films for children and young people including documentaries, shorts and animated films from Denmark and abroad.
This culturally diverse city has everything to offer the traveller and casual tourist.
