A Taste of Stockholm Celebrates More Than Just Food
A Taste of Stockholm is a six-day long celebration of food and Swedish culture.
Food lovers from all over the world make Stockholm their destination for the city’s major annual gastronomic event, A Taste of Stockholm. However, this six-day festival, which takes place during the first week of June, involves more than just food. There are a lot of free activities to enjoy as well as Swedish entertainment and, of course, Swedish food. This major festival is filled with sporting events, live entertainment, music and specially conceived menus presented by many of the local restaurants.
Traditionally referred to as Smaka Pa Stockholm, this festival celebrates the country’s food and culture and attracts more than 700,000 visitors over its six days. Around this same time visitors can expect to indulge in more celebrations as Stockholm celebrates Sweden’s Independence Day, which is also referred to as National Flag Day. This one-day festival takes place on the 6th of June, and offers additional citywide entertainment.
The next month, in the early part of July, Stockholm pays tribute to the other end of the dining and drinking spectrum when it hosts the Stockholm Beer and Whisky Festival. One of the most respected drinks fairs of its kind in Europe, this event is an opportunity for travellers to learn more about Swedish beer, whisky, cider, calvados, and to get an insight into other drinks such as cognac and champagne.
Stockholm Arlanda Airport is a great destination year round, with direct flights from many places in Europe.
