Thousand flock to Biarritz for the annual Surf Festival

Located on the Bay of Biscay, in southwest France, the city of Biarritz has long been a popular seaside destination for tourists visiting the country. With a population of less than 30,000 Biarritz became something of an exclusive resort following the opening of a casino there in 1901. It brought an increased tourist trade to the town, as well as a lively nightlife, which has continued to thrive over the years. The popular annual Biarritz Surf Festival takes place during the summer and attracts thousands of spectators to the area.
