Islamabad Contemporary Art Fair
Art and culture combine to promote unity in the annual Islamabad Contemporary Art Fair
Islamabad promotes culture and dialogue in its annual contemporary art fair. Each year, the art fair comes to Islamabad in March or April, bringing with it not only stunning pieces of modern art, but also a message.
One of the purposes of the Contemporary Art Fair is to open up a dialogue on important social issues and promote unity. The fair takes on the ambitious mission of promoting a message to local and international audiences each year. In particular, the fair seeks to take on extremist and even indifferent viewpoints. One of the fair’s goals is to challenge the growing trends of violence and intolerance that are unfortunately seen in Islamabad and elsewhere.
Art is the medium for this message. The fair invites artists from Pakistan, Islamabad and from abroad. International and local presenters gather to present a one of a kind exhibition with a powerful message backing it.
Along with artists and art loves, industry professionals also attend the fair in the hope of discovering an exciting new talent. Artists can interact with buyers and professionals, including gallery owners and managers, art dealers, designers, architects, corporations and others. Institutes, cultural centres, and ambassadors all flock to the fair to witness what Islamabad and the world has to offer. Artists are encouraged to showcase their work however they see fit, from prints and paintings to sculptures, photography, glasswork and even installations.
