Jazz in the woods lights up the city

MKC, KansasHeld in Overland Park the free Jazz Festival attracts tens of thousands each year

A two-day event at the end of June has families from all over the world descending on Kansas City. The Jazz in the Woods festival, held once a year in Overland Park, is a free event and is the largest event in the Kansas area.

The Jazz in the Woods festival has had the destination of Kansas City for more than two decades and there are many forms of music played there. From blues, ragtime, fusion jazz and smooth jazz, there will be something for all lovers of jazz and blues. The festival is a family event and there is a featured children’s pavilion that has various activities including face painting, crafting and inflatables.

Overland Park Rotary Club is where the event will take place and each year it is sponsored by a number of different businesses from around Kansas City. Though the music festival is a free event, there will be the opportunity for visitors to buy reserved seating, where they will have not only private seating but also a dinner included and two drinks.

For anyone travelling to Kansas City, there are no direct flights available though there are a number of airlines that have flights from a United Kingdom airport to a number of main US airports from where a domestic flight can then be taken to Kansas. Hotel accommodation in and around Overland Park is plentiful and many are within close proximity to where the jazz festival will take place
