Sporting events include the Ironman Australia Triathlon (May), National Bodyboarding Championships (July) and the Australian Surfing Festival. Port Macquarie is thriving as the fastest growing town in NSW and the hottest new place in Australia to host an event.

“Visitation from a handful of events will generate over $44 million for our local economy, which is a new record.” says the Tourism Manager at Greater Port Macquarie Tourism.

Airport expansion plans are also in the works. At present there are several flights to Port Macquarie daily from Sydney and other major cities in Australia.
