Visit Southampton for Christmas Festivities with a German Flavour

Southampton airport is hoping to become the most popular airport for those travelling to and from the South East.

Southampton hosts a number of festivals and events throughout the year, including a German beer festival and a dragon boat race in the summer months. Winter also features regular events including the Southampton Christmas Festival and Marke,t making it a good all-year destination.

Christmas markets have proved popular in recent years and Southampton’s Christmas Festival and Market has been very successful over the years and the city is hoping that this year will be just as successful. The Wehrnachtsmarkt aims to bring German Christmas festive cheer toboth visitors and residents of Southampton. The festival runs from late November to December. The market is located outside the main entrance to the West Quay Shopping Centre and features hundreds of unusual and interesting foods and gifts. Visitors can find exotic hand-crafted items which make ideal Christmas presents, as well as sample a range of high-quality fresh foods from the ten German food stalls. Imported German beer from Leipzip, or a warming glass of Cherry Gluhwein, adds to the festive cheer. Children will love the funfair rides and adults can also enjoy a varied programme of Christmas and secular musical events which are staged on the Central Circle. The market is free and is open from 10am to 6:30pm with late night opening on Thursdays.
