Germany is well known for its beer festivals and the Stuttgart Beer Festival is the second biggest beer festival in Germany. It takes place over two weeks at the end of September and the beginning of October at the Cannstatter Wasen in Bad Cannstatt.
The Beer Festival takes place in large tents which are named and sponsored by large breweries. Not only is there beer at the festival, but a carnival as well. Live bands entertain drinkers in the beer tents and there is a funfair with a Ferris wheel and lots of other rides, and plenty of food, including specialities like candied almonds. Oompah bands, which perform in traditional dress, are another draw to the Stuttgart Beer Festival. The festival always begins with a parade. There is also a French Festival, an agricultural exhibition every three years and a celebration of German Reunification.
