Approximately 6.5 kilometres from Tivat is the 12th century walled city of Kotor where you can wander the ancient streets inside the massive stone walls and admire the architecture for hours. A popular attraction in Kotor is the Cathedral of St. Tryphon, built in 1166.
Tivat was under the rule of Venice from the 15th to 18th centuries so there are many buildings and churches with that Venetian feel.
When in Tivat, make sure you try the local speciality dish Brodette, fish soup made with three types of fish, usually mackerel, sardine and cuttlefish.
