Toronto Lights up with the Calvacade of Lights
Visit Toronto for a dazzling display of lights and festive cheer
Toronto has long been served by scheduled flights from Air Canada and British Airways, but recently Air India introduced flights to Toronto and Qatar has expanded the number of its flights to this popular destination.
Toronto Special Events (TSE) was set up to promote and develop dynamic and innovative events and festivals that would not only enrich the lives of the local people, but also attract visitors from across the world to this popular destination.
The award-winning Cavalcade of Lights is just one of the events staged throughout the year in Toronto. The event is a spectacular four-decades-old Toronto tradition and takes place in November with the First Lighting Ceremony to mark the start of the holiday season. This is just the start of a month-long series of events which include live musical performances, ice skating at the famous outdoor rink, the lighting up of Toronto’s official giant Christmas tree, beautiful lights in more than a dozen of Toronto’s neighbourhoods and a fantastic display of fireworks in the Nathan Phillips Square. Many of the events are free and residents and visitors alike can listen to live music ranging from jazz and rock to gospel and soul, performed by some of the biggest names in Canadian music. Visitors can also take informative and entertaining bus tours of the neighbourhoods and tourist attractions and along the route expert guides recount stories about Toronto. Toronto has seen waves of immigration from Europe, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean giving it a rich patchwork of unique neighbourhoods. Many of the hotels offer special packages during this festive period.
