British Airways reveals its top 10 destinations

British Airways has revealed the ten destinations that it expects to prove popular among travellers next year.

The airline included a number of long-haul hotspots in its list, such as the Maldives, Delhi and Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic.

Another far-flung destination set to welcome high numbers of British visitors is Cape Town, which will be one of the host cities during the Fifa World Cup in South Africa next summer.

Travellers planning a trip to North America in 2010 were advised by British Airways to consider visiting Las Vegas, New York or Vancouver.

The carrier also predicted that some cities closer to home will prove popular next year, namely Stockholm, Dubrovnik and Istanbul.

Richard Tams, head of UK and Ireland sales for British Airways, said: "Customers recognise that there's a world of opportunity out there – from tiger safari in India, to the Fifa World Cup in South Africa and the bright lights of Las Vegas.

"In 2010, holidaymakers will have more choice of beach destinations than ever, especially with our new services to Punta Cana, Sharm el Sheikh and the Maldives."
