Hilton opens new hotel in New Zealand
Hilton Worldwide has opened a new hotel in the Taupo region of New Zealand.
Located about three hours away from Auckland and four-and-a-half hours from Wellington by car, the Hilton Lake Taupo is the company's second property in New Zealand.
It consists of the Heritage Wing, a building previously known as the Terraces Hotel which was built in 1889, and the new Mountain Wing.
Guests will be accommodated in 113 rooms, some of which offer views of Lake Taupo and Mount Ruapehu, the country's largest ski field.
Facilities at the hotel include thermally heated outdoor pools, tennis courts, a gym and a spa.
Martin Rinck, president of Hilton Worldwide Asia Pacific, said: "Hilton Lake Taupo is truly spectacular and I am pleased we will be managing a hotel in one of New Zealand's most significant leisure and meetings destinations.
"We are delighted that we have been able to retain the character of the original Victorian building and incorporate some of the same charm into the new Mountain Wing."
Visitors can take part in a number of leisure activities in the Taupo region of New Zealand, including fishing, golf, skiing and hiking.
