Travellers planning to
fly to Bangkok this September should pay a visit to the city's China Town.
Although perhaps not the most obvious destination in the Thai capital, on September 22nd and 23rd the city's Yaowarat district (China Town) will be celebrating its annual food festival.
Giving visitors to
Bangkok the opportunity to watch various Chinese cooking demonstrations the food festival also offers the chance to sample various international, Thai and vegetarian cuisine.
Traditional Chinese delicacies such as Dim Sum, Teachew-style steamed Chinese mullet, shark fin in red sauce, stuffed sheet noodles, pork sate, dumplings, bird's nest soup, soybean milk, lotus root juice and toasted chestnuts (locally called Kaolat) will also be on offer.
There will also be a number of cultural shows and entertainments taking place around the China Town neighbourhood.
Originally settled by Chinese traders, the Yaowarat is one of the oldest districts in
Bangkok and is still packed with a variety of traders and most importantly restaurants and food vendors.
