Dutch carrier
VLM Airlines has announced that it is to launch flights from
Groningen to London City Airport via
Amsterdam from next month.
Beginning on October 30th, the flights will run every weekday, with one morning outward flight operating on Saturdays and returning on Sundays.
The new flight path is being put into action as a result of a survey by VLM Airlines finding that passengers travelling from the northern region of
the Netherlands to
London and back were experiencing long flights with an overnight stay needed.
The new flights now allow travellers to leave Groningen in the morning and return on the same day.
"We are rapidly expanding in the Dutch market and are fully aware of the business potential that the north of the Netherlands has to offer," said Johan Vanneste, managing director of
VLM Airlines.
"Furthermore, Groningen Airport Eelde offers all the advantages we are used to of regional airports, such as short check-in times, ample parking facilities and swift disembarkation procedures."
VLM Airlines currently flies between Amsterdam and London City 12 times a week and from
Rotterdam to London ten times a week.
