Travellers looking for a non-stop party experience could grab a
flight to Goa for the Goa Carnival in February.
This week-long event sees a series of parades, performances and food and drink galore flood the region in an explosion of colour and sound.
Visitors to
Goa can expect to take in a number of musical and dance shows, as well as many outrageous costumes and a spot of colour throwing, where attendees fling brightly coloured powder at each other instead of the food used in the early years of the carnival.
With roots in Portugal's colonisation of
Goa, holidaymakers may expect the carnival to carry Christian overtones, but instead it is widely regarded as a cosmopolitan event where revellers of all faiths are welcomed.
However, travellers should ensure they book their flights and accommodation as soon as possible, as the Goa Carnival unsurprisingly attracts a great deal of interest and packs out most of the hotels in the region every year.
