American Airlines has announced that it is to spend $20 million (£10.1 million) on upgrading its first and business class cabins onboard its Boeing 767-200 fleet.
Passengers will benefit from motorised seats, brighter interiors and new entertainment systems, as well as an addition seat in each first-class cabin.
The carrier is also opening up its new Flagship lounge and second Admirals Club lounge at the new JFK Airport terminal to extra passengers in a move to be implemented by next summer.
"We are focused on investing in our transcontinental product - on some of our most important routes - to enhance the overall customer experience for our valued premium travelers," commented David Cush, senior vice president of global sales for
American Airlines.
"The aircraft upgrades, combined with the new transcontinental premium class menus and the new amenities we recently announced, all work together to enhance the total travel experience onboard the aircraft."
Earlier this week,
United Airlines announced that it is to upgrade its first-class seats to make them more comfortable.
