Indian airline
Jet Airways has announced that it is to launch a new route to
Ahmedabad from Heathrow Airport.
Starting on April 3rd, the airline will fly between the Gujarat capital and London twice a week - on Tuesdays and Sundays - with an extra weekly flight on Fridays to be added in May.
Currently, the carrier operates a number of flights from Heathrow Airport to
Mumbai,
Delhi and Amritsar in
India.
"We are pleased to link Ahmedabad, the state capital of Gujarat, with London Heathrow as part of our expansion plans to tap the enormous potential of Gujarat, which of late has seen an enhanced and steady inflow of investments," commented Wolfgang Prock-Schauer, chief executive of
Jet Airways.
The new route will be flown by the airline's A330-200 aircraft, which offers up to 30 seats in first class and 196 seats in economy class.
