The number of services operating from
London City Airport has grown by a fifth since December last year, it has been announced.
Since the airport was purchased four months ago 11 new services have been launched, meaning that the hub now serves 34 destinations across
Europe.
"As a result of increasing demand we are not only seeing the introduction of new services, but are also seeing the introduction of route competition, enhancing the customer's choice," commented Richard Gooding, chief executive of London City Airport.
The airport said that it is now focusing on building on this growth by expanding capacity through new aircraft parking stands, a bigger departure lounge and better security facilities.
Earlier this year, the hub was awarded the title of Best UK Airport by readers of the Wanderlust travel magazine. It surpassed the two million passenger milestone in November last year.
