Virgin Atlantic has announced that it is to launch twice-weekly
flights to Mauritius from
Heathrow Airport on October 28th.
The new services will run on Fridays and Sundays from London and on Saturdays and Mondays from Mauritius using Airbus A340-300 aircraft installed with the airline's new Upper Class cabin.
In total, the carrier will serve 30 destinations around the world after the launch of this service and a new route to
Kingston on October 30th.
"This new route shows that we are continuing to build a long-haul network with the ideal mix of business and leisure routes for today's traveller," commented Andrew Fyfe, regional manager for the Middle East and Indian Ocean at
Virgin Atlantic.
"Mauritius is a beautiful island offering a range of relaxing spa centres and elegant hotels," he added.
The news comes during a week of various announcements from the airline, including the take-off of its new service to
Nairobi last weekend and plans to launch an all-business class airline for transatlantic flights.
