British Airways has announced that it will be operating a full
long-haul flight schedule today (July 4th) following a security scare at
Heathrow Airport.
The incident occurred at Terminal 4 and as a precaution the airline, along with carriers such as
Qantas,
KLM, Kenyan Airways and
Iberia, cancelled its flights yesterday.
It says, however, that passengers flying from Heathrow Airport today should still check the British Airways website for information on the status of their flight before departing for the airport.
In addition, certain inbound flights from the USA that were due to arrive today have been cancelled. Travellers who were booked on a cancelled flight will be able to rebook or obtain a refund through their travel agents or by directly contacting the airline.
Most of British Airways' short-haul flights will be operating to and from Terminals 1 and 4, the airline added.
Terminal 4 was closed yesterday afternoon following the discovery of a suspect piece baggage.
However, the majority of flights have started operating again today, although delays and cancellations may still affect certain passengers.
