Travellers intending to get some
winter sun at the end of the year may be interested to hear that
Virgin Atlantic is to launch five flights to
Montego Bay during the festive period.
The airline said that the extra direct flights between
Gatwick Airport and
the Caribbean destination will fly out on December 22nd, 23rd and 29th and on January 5th and 6th 2008.
Each flight will take off at 12:30 GMT and land at Sangster International Airport, making a return trip on the same day to reach Gatwick at 10:15 GMT the next morning.
"This route was the airline's eighth Caribbean route, introduced only last year," commented Steve Ridgway, chief executive of
Virgin Atlantic.
He added: "This route has proved to be very popular with our leisure customers and these additional flights will provide a further boost to the region's economy, with over 2,000 passengers expected to take advantage of the extra services."
Earlier this year, the airline announced that it had obtained the rights to increase its services to
Kingston in
Jamaica. The extra flights will launch in October this year.
