Passengers expecting to use
Gatwick Airport over the bank holiday weekend between Friday 24th and Monday 27th August have been urged to take steps to make their journeys easier.
The airport has said that an estimated 510,000 people are set to pass through the hub during this period, with August 24th expected to be the busiest day, seeing more than 134,000 passengers alone.
Travellers should make sure they comply with baggage and liquids rules, and that they take advantage of online and self-service check-in wherever possible, officials at the airport advised.
According to the hub, the most popular destinations for those jetting off over the weekend include
Dublin,
Orlando,
Edinburgh and
Alicante, among others.
Earlier this month, airport operator BAA released figures that showed passenger traffic at Gatwick Airport increased by 1.8 per cent to 3.8 million during the month of July.
All BAA
airports saw a collective 15.1 million travellers pass through their gates during the same period, it said.
