A cabin crew strike that would have affected flights operated by
Virgin Atlantic this month has been called off.
The airline and union Unite have agreed to terms that will satisfy both parties and cancel action that was scheduled for January 9th, 10th, 16th and 17th, affecting services to the
USA in particular.
Virgin president Sir Richard Branson said the company was "pleased" at the final resolution between the two organisations.
"The outcome is a triumph of common sense and means that our passengers need not worry about getting to their destinations," he commented.
Virgin offers a number of economy,
premium economy and
business class flights to Dubai,
New York,
Sydney,
Johannesburg and
Los Angeles - among other destinations - from
Heathrow Airport.
Last week, a strike that would have disrupted operations at airports owned by BAA in the UK was also called off.
