American Airlines has won the title of Best International Airline after readers of Travel Weekly voted for the company.
The carrier beat the likes of
British Airways,
Virgin Atlantic,
Singapore Airlines and
Lufthansa to the accolade in the
awards run by the US travel magazine, which saw some 5,000 readers take part in the voting process.
American Airlines offers a range of flights from the UK to destinations in the
USA such as
New York,
Boston,
Miami,
Chicago,
Las Vegas,
Los Angeles and
Denver, among others.
"We appreciate the travel agency community and all the other Travel Weekly readers who recognised American's achievements in international flying," commented Kurt Stache, vice president and general sales manager at
American Airlines.
The airline will launch a new non-stop route between
Heathrow Airport and
Dallas on March 30th as part of plans to take advantage of the enforcement of the EU-US open skies agreement.
