Greek carrier
Aegean Airlines has announced plans to introduce a new service between
Stansted Airport and
Athens.
The twice-daily flights will begin on May 15th and will offer
economy and business class cabins for passengers as part of the carrier's revamped summer schedule.
Flights will depart at 10:20 and 20:00 BST from
London, with the return leg taking off at 07:30 and 17:10 local time from Athens.
"Thanks to this move, Aegean will cover the most popular destination abroad and in overall six of the seven largest destinations abroad from Athens,"
Aegean Airlines said in a statement.
Athens is a popular summer destination for British holidaymakers and offers attractions such as the Parthenon, numerous museums, boutique and speciality stores, yachting and sailing activities, and more.
The city's airport recently announced that a record-breaking 16.5 million flyers passed through the hub last year, up ten per cent on the previous year.
