The first ever flight to the UK with the new
Airbus A380 aircraft has taken off.
Departing
Singapore earlier today, the
Singapore Airlines service to
London will land at
Heathrow Airport later this afternoon (March 18th).
The massive double-decker superjumbo will then make the return
flight to Singapore at 18:55 GMT, landing in the country at 15:35 local time tomorrow.
Huang Cheng Eng, executive vice president of marketing and the regions for Singapore Airlines, said that passenger interest in its A380 flights from London to the south-east Asian country has been high.
"Seats on both legs of the inaugural flight to London were snapped up soon after flight details were announced in late January this year and forward bookings for A380 scheduled services there are strong," he commented.
Singapore Airlines took delivery of its third A380 ahead of these London flights earlier this month.
