European destinations top for Gatwick flyers

European destinations top for Gatwick flyers
Destinations in Europe look set to be the most popular for those flying from Gatwick Airport over Easter.

According to the airport, locations such as Geneva, Malaga, Dublin, Tenerife, Orlando, Faro, Alicante, Edinburgh, Madrid and Barcelona will prove particularly attractive to those seeking to get away this weekend.

It expects to see more than 600,000 passengers pass through its gates between today (March 20th) and March 25th, with Sunday to be the busiest day as some 108,000 flyers make use of the airport.

Officials at the airport are reminding passengers that the one-bag-per-person rule is still in force - apart from for those taking connecting flights - as well as regulations governing the carriage of liquids.

Last week, it was announced that more than 2.3 million people took a flight to or from Gatwick in February, up 3.4 per cent compared with the same month last year.
