Irish carrier
Aer Lingus and USA-based
United Airlines have formed a codeshare agreement that will allow passengers to seamlessly book onto both companies' flights.
The agreement comes into effect on November 1st and will enable Aer Lingus flyers to gain access to more than 200
USA destinations. Those flying with United Airlines will also be able to benefit from the ability to book onto flights to more locations across
Ireland and the rest of
Europe.
Other advantages of the partnership for travellers include simplified reservations, as well as smoother ticketing, check-in and baggage handling processes.
"Chicago and Ireland have a rich history and our relationship with Aer Lingus will give our customers more non-stop destinations across the Atlantic," commented Michael Whitaker of United Airlines.
Last month, Aer Lingus announced that it is to operate new flights to American destinations such as
New York,
Boston,
Washington,
San Francisco,
Los Angeles and
Orlando from
Dublin this autumn.
