British Airways chief executive Willie Walsh has said that
Heathrow Terminal 5 will be a success, despite the problems afflicting the facility.
Speaking to Channel 4 News, Mr Walsh asserted that the new terminal is currently "working well" and that "it will be a fantastic success".
The comments came after BAA and British Airways released a joint statement explaining that the planned move of
long-haul flights to Terminal 5 had been delayed until June to allow the two organisations to iron out the complex's various issues.
British Airways had originally planned to shift these flights on April 30th.
"We are determined to make it work and I am pleased that BAA and British Airways together are taking a sensible approach to this, working to address the challenges that we face," Mr Walsh remarked.
The initial problems that affected the terminal's baggage system are thought to have resulted in tens of thousands of bags failing to reach their destinations with their owners.
