Birmingham-Hamburg flights take off
A new route between Birmingham and Hamburg has been launched this week.

Operated by German airline Lufthansa, the flights will take off from the airport six times a week, leaving at 11:30 BST and landing in Hamburg at 14:10 local time.

The return leg departs at 10:15 local time and lands in Birmingham at 11:00 BST. Lufthansa already runs flights from the Midlands city to Dusseldorf, Frankfurt and Munich.

"Hamburg is an excellent destination to visit, whether on business or leisure and boasts magnificent promenades, shopping malls and trademark canals," commented Peter Vella, business development director at Birmingham Airport.

He added: "Hamburg has many parks and gardens, making it Germany's greenest city."

Hamburg is the second largest city in Germany. Its attractions include the historical Old City district, its port and fish market, the Alster lake, the town hall and the city's various shops and zoos.
