Manchester Airport has confirmed the details of its Terminal 1 ground level check-in procedures.
From May 28th, passengers flying with airlines such as
Aer Arann,
Air Berlin,
Lufthansa and
Swiss can use the check-in facility, which is accessible via passenger lifts stopping at level 0.
The announcement comes as the airport continues to undergo a significant £35 million redevelopment project at Terminal 1.
Last week, a £10 million security area with new X-ray machines, vapour-testing facilities, extra security lanes and more staff was opened at the
hub, the Manchester Evening News reports.
"We've been quick to respond to what our passengers told us they wanted - hassle-free security screening," Manchester Airport managing director Andrew Cornish told the newspaper.
The new security area is the first in the UK to avoid having shops and restaurants available before checks take place, meaning that screening procedures for liquids are now easier.
