The country of
Croatia is becoming increasingly popular among travellers as a holiday destination, according to one expert.
Visnja Arambasesc, editor of the In Your Pocket guides to Croatia, said that more tourists are visiting the nation than ever before.
While
Zagreb continues to be a particularly attractive holiday hotspot for many, travellers are increasingly heading outside of the city for natural sights, local food and historical landmarks such as castles, she explained.
Other popular destinations in Croatia include
Dubrovnik and the Istrian peninsula, according to the official tourist board in the country.
"Every year, people come for cultural tourism. People are more and more satisfied with what they are offered here," Ms Arambasesc remarked.
More than 267,000 Britons visited Croatia last year, according to the country's central bureau of statistics. A total of 11.2 million tourists visited Croatia's various attractions over the course of the year, the figures indicate.
