Dubai 'ideal' for luxury holidays

Dubai is fast becoming one of the best destinations in the world for luxury holidays, it has been claimed.

According to Frances Tuke of the Association of British Travel Agents, Dubai is one of the emerging economies becoming increasingly popular among Britons as holiday destinations.

She said the emirate is now a "four and five-star" holiday hotspot, thanks to the huge amount of investment and resources that has been ploughed into its tourism industry in recent years.

"Dubai, quite a while ago, was really just a desert state; [now] it's one of the fastest growing cities in the world," Ms Tuke remarked.

Among the region's attractions are its mosques, souks, the busy Creek inlet and extensive shopping facilities. Airlines such as Virgin Atlantic, Austrian Airlines and Air France offer a number of economy and business class flights to Dubai from UK airports.
